Feels Good to Feel GOOD

After four hours of hiking, I rested my backpack on a granite cliff in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming, overlooking a series of canyons full of quaking aspen trees. The 1,000 foot climb that morning left me breathless – not only from physical exhaustion but also from the unbelievable scenery. I couldn’t help but think of how fortunate I was to be standing on that mountain top. A year filled with physical ups and downs and relentless effort to prepare for this fall had truly paid off.  In the past year, I have had foot problems, low back pain, right rotator cuff pain, and intermittent battles with headaches. I knew the incredible upcoming fall I had planned, and I didn’t want to deal with any of it! Long story short, through the different physical therapy techniques and corrective exercises I use on my patients every single day, I can happily say I have been PAIN-FREE since late summer. No, it wasn’t instant relief, but I had to practice what I preach every day and wouldn’t you know it… it works! This trip would not have been enjoyable, in fact many things wouldn’t have even been possible, had I still had some of my ailments from earlier this year. That said, I challenge you all to think of something this fall or in the upcoming year that you are really looking forward to and don’t let pain hinder you from enjoying it to its fullest!
